What’s new in October? Lots! We have a great sale running this month, a new wine kit added to our product line and the LE2012 (limited edition) kits have been announced. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, Hallowe’en at the end of the month but first comes Julie’s birthday! Come and celebrate Julie’s birthday  with us! Saturday October 6 we will have cake to share with everyone that drops by to say Happy Birthday. Busy, busy month!

World Vineyard Collection 4 week kits are on sale this month. All are $15 off the regular price. This gives you a chance to make some fabulous internationally sourced wines at a great price and in plenty of time for Christmas. The best selling Washington Riesling is perfect with all white meat including roast turkey. And the Chilean Malbec would be the red to choose for turkey dinner. Winexpert has brought back the Argentine Malbec, but with a twist. Now available in the Selection International with Grapeskins line-up, Argentine Malbec is a rich, robust, spicy red wine. Dark, inky purple colour and ripe fruit flavours of plums, black cherry and blackberry give an almost jammy character on the palate. Smoke, earth, leather, wild game, tobacco and white/black pepper along with intriguingly spicy notes make for an interesting medley of aromas and flavours, adding to layers of complexity. LE 2012 – the limited edition kits have been announced! These kits are available by pre-order only and are very limited in quantity. They always sell out fast so make sure you pre-order. The deadline for placing your order is December 7. There are 3 red wines in the LE2012 release starting with an Argentine Malbec/Bonarda blend in January, Portugese Arragones/Cabernet Sauvignon blend in February and an Italian Nebbiolo with grapeskins in April. The 2 white wines are an Argentine Torrontes in January and a Washington Chenin Blanc/Riesling blend in March. All of them are going to be fabulous and a must have for your wine cellar. As in past years, Winexpert has developed food pairing recipes for each wine. You can check out all the details by clicking here.

Happy Thanksgiving! Turkey dinner with all the fixings – yum yum! Now, what wine to pair with all that great food? The most important thing to remember about food and wine pairings is, whatever is your favourite is perfect! However, you may have others to please so we suggest a nicely oaked Chardonnay or a well chilled Riesling. You might want to try a Gewurztraminer – the spicy notes stand up well with turkey. If you prefer red, something light and fruity pairs best – Pinot Noir would be our choice but a Malbec or Merlot would also be great. What’s for dessert? Pumpkin or apple pie is definitely the most popular and would pair well with a glass of Gewurztraminer or Ice Wine. If you are going with a chocolate based desert, red wine is a must – something big and fruity like a Zinfandel or Shiraz.

Hallowe’en ends the month. It’s going to be a long night, make sure you have plenty of candy on hand for the little ones and a glass or two of wine for yourself!

Cheers!

Julie & Mike
